Goal

This virtual interactive workshop aims to equip oncology nurses with the skills to write an abstract for local, regional, or national poster or podium presentations.

Target Audience

This virtual workshop is intended for nurses in all areas of oncology care. Non-nursing oncology care team members are welcome to attend.

Learning Objectives

  • Review previous successful abstract submissions and their presentations.

  • Describe the steps to develop a successful abstract.

  • Identify one topic for presentation.

Criteria for Successful Completion

This activity is eligible for credit through October 6, 2025, at 4:59 p.m. CT. After this date, this activity will expire, and no further credit will be awarded.

Elaine DeMeyer

Elaine S. DeMeyer, MSN, RN, AOCN®, BMTCN® is the owner of beyond Oncology Education, LLC whose mission is to improve patient care by empowering oncology professionals with the tools and resources to change practice. Elaine’s publishing work includes a wide spectrum of print materials (book chapters, articles, monographs, and white papers) including content and production of her own company magazine. Her online work includes patient education content for WebMD, a standing column for Oncology Nursing News, and the first editor of Cancer Nursing Today. She writes monthly oncology nursing articles on graft-versus-host disease and multiple myeloma.

Fatemeh Youssefi

Fatemeh Youssefi, PhD, RN, OCN, has served as a nurse for over 3 decades with a specialty in oncology for the past 20 years. Her education consists of bachelor degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University, followed by a master degree and PhD from Texas Woman’s University in Health Studies, Higher Education. Through educational experience, she believes in empowering her colleagues particularly through oncology certification and networking through collaborative abstracts and projects. Fatemeh believes nursing is an ever-evolving field that requires constant learning, but it is rooted in the same fundamental values that are essential in everyday patient care. She has had the honor of taking her nursing skills and knowledge into the community to help those who do not have easy access to medical assistance or education. Specifically, she has served as a healthcare coordinator with the annual Day of Dignity humanitarian event where they provide hygiene kits, medical screening, and health prevention education to more than 200 attendees residing in south Dallas.
