These interactive workshops will enable nurses, social workers, counselors, and other healthcare team members to improve self-care using mindfulness meditation.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the benefit and importance of mindfulness.

  • Practice a body scan to become aware of the body to better manage stress, anxiety, or pain.

  • Use the RAIN four step process to help practice self-compassion.

  • Apply loving kindness techniques as part of a daily mindfulness meditation.

Workshop content

  • Session 1 – Introduction to Mindfulness

  • Session 2 – Mindfulness and Stress

  • Session 3 – Mindfulness of Thoughts/Emotions

  • Session 4 – Mindfulness in Daily Life

Criteria for Successful completion

  • Register and attend each workshop

  • Complete/submit evaluation form

Approved for 4.0 contact hours for nurses, social workers, and licensed professional counselors. Ben Garcia

Facilitator Ben Garcia, BSN, RN, blends his unique expertise as a mindfulness meditation facilitator and a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in oncology. Ben is a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator who works with both healthcare professionals and patients to help individuals find deeper connection in daily life through mindfulness meditation. With years of experience in mindfulness and coaching, Ben helps individuals explore how mindfulness can enhance overall well-being. Ben teaches techniques for daily practice to improve self-care to build resilience.
